Nov. 18, 2014 – Rockwell Automation has launched the Allen-Bradley ArmorStratix 5700, a layer 2 managed industrial Ethernet switch that can be mounted directly onto a machine or application to reduce the overall size and cost of a control cabinet, it says.

According to the company, it simplifies the design and development of machine-level networks through configuration and monitoring tools, while offering high availability, Quality of Service (QoS), and automated monitoring to help simplify network optimization and convergence. Built with Cisco IOS network infrastructure software, the on-machine switch should go a long way toward resolving the information technology/operational technology struggles in manufacturing plants today, it adds.
